5 out of 5 stars Awesome Ipad Case for Autism
trung pham

After going through 2 cases for my autistic son's Ipad, I finally found the perfect one. On one case, he peeled off all the rubber pieces covering the Ipad buttons and chewed on it. The other case just simply cracked when he dropped it. The new case I bought from The Joy Factory seems to be indestructible. It's very rugged and seems to be able to handle alot of abuse. One of the greatest advantages for me is that I can take it on my boat because it suppose to float and can be submerged in water. My son has thrown keys, wallet, cell phone and sunglasses off the boat many times. The only negative comment is that it took me 10 min to figure out the power button. Perhaps I should read the instruction first. A tip for everyone is to be careful with the charging jack. It's kind of hard to plug in and you have to be careful not to put it in backwards or force it in.To me, it's well worth the money because my non verbal son has made so much progress with the Ipad. With this case, it allows me to give him more freedom to use it because I don't have to constantly be nervous about his handling of the unit.I highly recommend this case to autistic kids or people with developmental disability and for anyone using this case outdoors such as boating, camping and construction work.

5 out of 5 stars My favorite case

I bought this case and I love it - one piece of advice - you also need to buy the bubbleless anti-glare iPad screen protector to keep from sticking to the inside of the case. This makes it look great without those annoying bubbles. Everyone comments on how sharp it looks and it is tough. I live in Hawaii where we get a lot of salt air, sand and rain - so I wouldn't consider using without the case. Love it!

I bought this case because it allows charging without taking the iPad out. I take my iPad on weekend and week-long sailing trips and being able to keep it in the case all the time is a big plus. The case is solidly built; its rigid sides should protect the iPad if it slips off the navigation desk or falls on the cockpit floor. The case arrived and I filled the sink with water to test it. The instructions said to submerge it in 12 inches of water. The only container I have that's 12 inches deep and big enough to hold this case is my bathtub. I didn't want to waste that much water. So the case with the cardboard "test" iPad went into the full to the brim kitchen sink. A half hour or so later I plunged my hand in and pulled the plug. After mopping up the water that spilled over the edge of the sink, I removed and dried off the case. Was that? Could it really be? Yes. The cardboard iPad was wet. When the case was fully dry on the outside I opened it and found the problem. The edge of the cardboard iPad was pinched in the seal. And thus I discovered the big problem with this case. It is incredibly difficult to close it properly.I fussed with it, sliding the two halves together and trying to rotate the six latches and engage the two clips. Time after time I could not get the two halves to click together properly. I went to the manufacturer's web site and watched the training video. Note to Joy Factory -- if your consumer product requires a video to do the most basic function, you have a problem. The guy in the video made it look simple -- slide-click-twist-twist-twist-twist-twist-twist-click-click-Joy. I mopped my brow and tried it again, on a hard, flat surface with the edge hanging off the side so I could get a grip on the latches at the crucial moment.Read more ›

So I am a dock builder and wanted to be able to take the ipad out to meet with potential clients and also use at home and in the office. The ipad is just too slippery cause my hands are so dry and calloused. So needed drop protection. Wet work environment so of course waterproof is important. I am afraid that some metal clips in briefcase could break the glass so I liked the idea of the screen protector. While I personally chose not to keep the aXion Pro and my cons are far greater than the pros. This is a great product for its intended purpose. Personally I think if Joy was too put this case on a diet and make an alternate version, say (aXtion lite) it could give lifeproof a run for its money. My thoughts on it below.Pro's:-This case definitely would work for the military or anybody else planning on being in an abusive environment.-The touch screen worked well enough thru plastic screen protector.- Followed the directions and case tested as waterproof although I never was brave enough to intentionally dunking it in the water with ipadCons:-Power button is very very easily depressed by accident . If I pushed little to hard on touch screen it would trip the sleep/power button on ipad. Which was a lot easier than actually using the real power button provided, but super annoying when using. Also ipad would accidently turn off if I slightly bumped it just shifting around. Basically its just way to tight of a fit and not enough clearance for power button. I attempted to remove and adjust multiple times but was not successful at making any difference.- Screen protector doesn't sit down against the screen so it is slightly spaced away from ipad around the perimeter but tries to stick against the screen in middle.Read more ›
