Descent Speaker System But Has A Few DrawbacksMyBeesWax
The iLuv iMM727BLK speaker dock is a descent set of speakers. The iLuv App and the Remote Control, however, are a little disappointing. I have evaluated the Speakers, the iLuv App, and the Remote Control separately. First, the Speakers:Speakers--------The speakers measure roughly 11" x 5" x 3.5" (L x W x H).The sound quality of the speakers is comparable to that on a set of low-end desktop speakers. Although the bass output is a bit lacking, it's entirely acceptable coming from speakers this size. The speakers do buzz a little when the volume is cranked up all the way but, again, that's almost a given on any smaller-sized speaker system. All in all, the sound quality on these speakers isn't bad.The speakers look very aesthetically pleasing (they look wicked on my nightstand!). I do realize that this speaker system functions primarily as a dock for the iPhone/iPad, but I'm disappointed that they are not rechargeable for cordless/portable operation.iLuv App (Version 3.0.6)--------After you plug in your iPhone/iPad for the first time, you'll be prompted to download and install the iLuv App. The app consists of Clock, Weather, Radio, and iPod functions, selectable with a menu of choices on the bottom of the screen.There are a few problems with the app that are noteworthy:o It crashes periodically.o Once the >>| button advances past the last song of an album, it displays a blank screen. Pressing the |<< button does not backtrack the player to the previous song. Sometimes, after advancing past the last song of an album, it switches into shuffle mode and plays the next random song.o The App cannot be fully controlled by the remote control.Read more ›

I purchased one for my daughter and had a chance to try it, now I'm getting a second one for myself. We use it for the ipad 2. In this price range, the iLuv 727 ArtStation has a lot of user friendly functions and quality.Pro's -- Holds ipad at a good level for using Face Time or Skype.- Easy set up, straight forward controls.- Able to rotate the ipad and adjust the angle forward and back, for individual viewing comfort.- A reasonable size to use at a desk or table, portable - easy to move or carry.- Comes with a remote and easy to download app.'s- Speaker sound and range is more than acceptable and above average for the size.- Price is inexpensive for the combination of a charging dock, speakers and a fully adjustable stand, all in one unit.- Able to plug in other devices and charges the devices.- Appearance is simple in design with modern, clean lines.- Pairs up quickly and easily with Apple brand and other brand name devices.Con's -- The iLuv app.'s can have some quirks, especially the alarm clock which can't be trusted to work every time. I don't use it as an alarm clock, so it's not an issue for me.- Loading the ipad into the dock is a bit "fussy", you need to pay attention, go slow and have the ipad out of it's case.- Power cord is short, most of the time you need an extension cord. I wish it was a couple of feet longer.- The ipad 1 doesn't fit as well as the ipad 2 does.Most of the Con's (for me) are not major ones. The speakers are very good for the size and price, they are not meant to be full sized in quality and should not be compared to more complex, full sized systems.Read more ›

If you're reading these reviews, you want a holder-charger docking station and you want to get the best for your $$$.Well, I read a lot of them - and got this one. I use it on the kitchen table and it is small and out of the way. It is playing my music files as I have breakfast and read my ipad newspaper.Sound is Very Good, a little bassy for my taste, but hey, it's not a hi-fi device. It is charged to 100% until I remove it,which is a snap to do. Volume and power switches are right in front. Power switch turns the iPad on/off, too, which is convenient.The little remote works perfectly and magnetically sticks to back of iluv when not in use. I like that i can be surfing, and if a song comes on that i dont like, i can just clk the forward arrow on the remote and go to the next song, without leaving the web page.Software is o.k., and allows you to select your own music files, worldwide radio stations, weather or an alarm clock. But you may prefer your iPad apps.There's an input on the back that lets you sync the iPad on the docking station. And an input to plug in an mp3 player or other device.I'm very happy with it, and I think you will, too.
Ipad2 doesn't fit rightSean
When I place the ipad2 in the dock it registers as being there but there is no sound. I have to adjust the ipad2 so it is perfectly positioned for the speakers to work. I do not think this was designed for the ipad2. It is only marketed for the ipad2. I returned it

I'll get straight to the point, the sound quality of this unit is average at best. I wasn't expecting audiophile quality from this unit. What I wanted was a means to listen to my podcasts and watch Netflix from my iPad at a higher volume level. For those purposes, this speaker system is beyond perfect. When I decided to plug my iPhone into the unit, and loaded up Pandora or Spotify, I was kind of mortified. Music has sort of a tin-can effect in that this speaker unit has a very limited range in the sound it can present. Bass will sound muddled, and treble will have a static sound.As for the build of the unit, you might get a little tired of swapping out pieces to switch from an iPhone to an iPad, but both are held firmly in place. Setup was as simple as plugging in the power and connecting the audio cord. In the end, it really is a good speaker dock.
