Case Logic BEBP-115 BackpackPros:High quality Nylon/PolyesterLots of well placed pockets: -Small *phone* pocket on top has nice felt interior -Smugglers pocket *in bottom of back support* is a nice touch (used for airline tickets) -Zippers on sides are great for things besides bottles but also keep bottles from moving -- Mesh within side pockets help adjust to different sized bottles Vanishing pocket in front is ideal for wallet, keys, etcHandle on top and bottom (for storing in overhead compartment) seems very well madeLaptop and tablet pockets are well padded (NO problems with bottom padding)Mesh pockets within other pockets are good for storing small things safelyGreat for all types of electronicsOverall design is pleasing NOTE: blue accents on front of bag are little rubber strandsBack/lumbar padding is very generousNo problems with heating on backArm straps go all the way across the top and behind neck for added supportChest strap is great additionMain compartment could fit at least 3 large textbooks or several books, notebooks, foldersSmall front pocket has a number of pockets for pens/pencils, notecards, etc. Even has pocket for individual pen (great for fountain pen or high end pen)Velcro helps keep adjustment straps from dangling in front of youCons:EDIT*** The shoulder straps (as some others have stated) are TOO WIDE. I'm a college male with fairly wide shoulders and while the bag has never slipped off my shoulders, the width gives it the feeling of outward movement. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR FEMALES WHO DO NOT HAVE BROAD SHOULDERSZippers could be better.Read more ›

For the last three years I've been using Targus A7 Backpack Designed to Protect 16-Inch Widescreen Laptops TSB167US (Black), which has been a GREAT backpack (you can easily find my video review on the product page). I use the Targus when traveling and it's been perfect. So three years later I get this backpack:* As you can see in the video there are plenty of pockets* Thought to supporting tablets and headphones was good planning on this design* When I compare the padding, the Targus is far superior in both shoulder straps and the area around the laptop.* In my video I missed another small pocket just below the main handle at the top. Big enough for loose change.Overall this is a good backpack, but to pay $90 for a bit of padding I'm not so sure about.Yes, the padding on the shoulder blade area and lumbar area keeps the laptop away from your body and can allow airflow between your back and pack. But for the price was hoping for something for more padding on the bottom or other "impact" areas.Bssed on great reviews & price, some other alternatives you might want to check into:Targus Drifter II Backpack for 16-Inch Laptop TSB238US (Black/Gray)Samsonite Luggage Xenon 2 Backpack

I really want to love this bag--the fabric seems super-durable, I love the wealth of pockets, and the padding is nice and dense. But for an average-sized girl (or a shorter guy with narrow shoulders), the fit gets uncomfortable over a while. The lumber support is placed at the lowest point, so I have to have the bag tightened as high as it will go. This wouldn't be a problem, except the fabric holding the two straps together at the top (where they come together in a "U" and attach to the bag) holds the straps too far apart for my shoulders and rubs at the back of my neck. I wish they had shorter versions for girls, but girl backpacks usually aren't utilitarian enough (padding, compartments) and come in garish colors.I don't want to dock more stars, because it's a great product otherwise.+The bottom padding in the laptop compartment seems sufficient, although I keep my laptop in a sleeve before putting it in the backpack anyway+I love the lumbar storage, as this is the handiest place to keep your phone so you can feel it buzz when you're on the go in a noisy area+Zippered compartments in the main storage areas are great for smaller items that like to tumble around+Zippers only come down midway; laptop compartment only opens enough to accommodate a very fat laptop. I absolutely hate it when zippers go all the way down, so a heavy book can push the front flap open and everything falls out (issue with my last pack :/).+Very durable material. The trade-off is that it doesn't have much give. Also gives it a very structured shape, but again that trade-off is that since it's a tall but relatively narrow rectangle, it's prone to tipping forward when sitting down (or tumbling off the front seat when the stupid driver in front of you causes you to brake suddenly).Read more ›

I had difficulty coming up with a star rating for this Case Logic Backpack; for my purposes and life the bag rates only three stars, for someone with different needs it almost might rate five. So I've settled on four stars, mostly to be fair to the company. Nice looking, lightweight and with many useful features, this backpack has much to recommend it. There are, however, some design flaws--at least from my point of view. Read on for the breakdown! This backpack is indeed a great way to carry around a laptop and/or tablet. The space allotted for devices is roomy and well-insulated from the front and back. I finally have a good place to stash my cords as well. There's a zippered, soft-interior pocket for your phone and I liked that some pockets are padded for more fragile items. I appreciated the fun tabs on the zippers that make opening and closing the compartments quick and easy (much better than the last laptop carrier I reviewed for Amazon, a Targus Drifter Messenger Bag. What a nightmare to open and close all the buckles). The backpack is truly lightweight and professional enough in appearance to bring to work (as I have every day since I started using it).And now for the flaws. When the pockets are designed for a specific purpose (or "designated" as the company puts it), they're great. But this pack has many pockets with no apparent purpose but to just fill up space. I would like to know what useful purpose the little mesh pocket in the foremost compartment could possibly serve, being too shallow to hold much of anything and not secure enough to store a small item. It's just there. The 15+ separate pockets give this bag a cluttered atmosphere that I grew frustrated with.Read more ›
