Great Storage Bag. Decent Backpack.Cory M.
I purchased this bag about a month prior to going on a five week military exercise; I've had it for about three months now. I own two tablets (a Galaxy Note 10 and a Nokia 2520) where I store all of my field manuals; additionally I brought a number of other electronic items (i.e. personal and military phone). I own a large number of various Pelican cases, but for this I wanted something I could wear and carry like a backpack. Enter this bag.PROS:-This bag is able to fit both tablets in the hard-case; simply remove the keyboard flap and they fit nicely.-The main pocket of this bag fits a Pelican Hardliner 1090 Case (I think; I've had it for a while and the numbers are worn mostly off) perfectly; and there is space for about three MREs with the case in there. For those who want/need to carry a protected laptop and tablet(s) this is a nice touch.-The larger back-bottom pocket is a nice feature. I am a prepper, and that pocket has plenty of space for all the items I hope to never use, while keeping them out of the way of everything I use daily.-The bag (and other case) kept everything safe, dry, and clean, while getting thrown around, over, and under a full HMMWV worth of other gear.CONS:-The bag is heavy and not very good at distributing the weight. I own a number of other backpack/rucksacks that can carry much more weight much more comfortably. The straps feel just slightly too wide, but it's enough to notice. This is not a "backpacking backpack"; I use it to carry items from one place to a vehicle, and from the vehicle to another place; it works well for this.-The front most pocket is essentially inside the main pocket; you can really only fill one or the other.Read more ›

my only criticism is that the ipad with an otter box does not fit into the box. which is unfortunate because the otter box is the best case ever for the ipad. However you can take out one of the cardboard foam inserts and it will fit. other than that it is awesome, i love the camera pocket in the back and it is super comfortable. I was worried that it would be to heavy but i am happy with it. so if you have an otter box just know that you will have to rip our the lining in the box on one side to make it work which is not that hard to do. but one would think that Pelican would think that people who would buy a heavy duty back pack would also have a heavy duty case on their ipad.
More space than expected, a solid performer with a few minor design issues. Rather conspicuous and a bit heavy, but still great.FDP
A solidly made backpack with a fantastic tablet compartment. I used it for a slightly larger tablet than it accommodates on paper, and ended up pulling out the so-so foam that came with the case and replacing it with a custom-cut alternative. Pelican support, despite trying, wasn't able to give me dimensions or foam removal instructions (like they would with a normal Pelican hard case). To be fair to them, this request was a bit above and beyond and it turns out that pulling is all that is needed to remove the original foam.In spite of appearances, there is ample room in the main compartment, the two rear storage compartments, and the aforementioned tablet compartment. The front "tablet holder" space behind the hardwall is kind of a joke, and the big downside to this is that putting things in the front compartment will cause the space in the main compartment to be reduced, so instead of the front compartment expanding when you fill it you just end up hitting a size limit on the bag and losing precious space in the largest compartment.I was able to cram a small DSLR, a medium sized zoom lens, one large prime lens, my 10" tablet, tablet dock, two mice, a portable keyboard, a raincoat, rain-cover for the backpack, 16oz water bottle, inflatable pillow, blanket, pair of gloves, small toiletry set, studio headphones, large sunglass case, and a bunch of hiking kit (flashlight, army compass, emergency blanket, etc) into this for a 1 1/2 month long cross-country (US) trip. I used this as my day bag on train rides, hiking expeditions, etc and lived out of a small suitcase. I rigged up a tripod holder on the side and that worked fantastically, even balancing out the water bottle. This came out with me into the desert and survived heat and sand.Read more ›

My husband loves this backpack and feels assured that it protects his laptop properly as he works in the marine industry and is in and around water a lot.I personally find its a bit heavy and not that pretty but the functionality trumps that I am told. :)

Ive spent a lot of money on pelican products. Always very good , strap pulled off so will probably call them.They are very easy people to deal with so I have no doubt they will stand up and take care of it as they haveBefore.L
