Chances are, a big part of your life - photos, music, work, school work and other important documents are stored on your iPad. It’s critical to protect it as best you can. BookBook is a hardback case with a leather spine that offers superior protection as you shuttle your iPad from place to place. Will there be a Vibrant Red BookBook for Air? No, BookBook for iPad Air is available only in Vintage Brown and Classic Black. Is there an auto on/off magnet in the new BookBook for iPad? No, a magnet was not incorporated into the new BookBook for iPad. How is BookBook different from other cases? Along with a totally unique look and solid protection, BookBook features a built-in display stand and a typing stand. You can use your iPad hands free for FaceTime chats and watching movies or videos. The built-in typing stand positions iPad at a comfortable angle for working on emails, documents or telling your Facebook friends how cool your new BookBook is. Why does BookBook for iPad have two zippers? Dual zippers allow easy access to any port on iPad while keeping it zipped securely in BookBook. Position the zippers at the bottom of BookBook to charge and sync your iPad, or zip them to the top for easy access to the headphone jack. How can I best care for the leather of my BookBook for iPad? Although some customers do like to use products to clean or condition the leather, we don't actually 'recommend' it because we increasingly like our own BookBooks as they become more scratched and stained. We feel they look more authentically distressed and vintage, and become more 'individual'. It's like loving a much-used family antique more than something new and shiny. Do I have to take my iPad out of BookBook to take a picture? No. Simply unzip the case, lift the iPad out by the interior frame, and snap your picture. Who's Twelve South? I bought a BookBook for an ipad a few years ago and it was great. It felt sturdy and there was some padding on the inside and the zipper did not feel cheap. This BookBook that I bought for my ipad is just not the quality from a few years ago. The front cover really feels like cardboard and the zipper is just cheap and temperamental. There is nothing luxurious about it for $79. The price is still the same on these two products, but they seem worlds apart. I will keep it, but something has gone wrong with the quality.EDIT: The replacement was an even bigger piece of crap. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! The price is ridiculous for how low quality it is now. The first one I bought a few years ago was exceptional quality made in China. These two pieces of cardboard with crappy zippers that bust constantly is made in India.Again, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!I hope someone from Twelve South is actually reading this feedback because you have a problem with your overpriced product. I would pay $29.99 for it if you remove the zippers and figure out another closure. Nothing worse than busted zippers. And $29.99 is being generous.

I really loved this case, but ended up returning it. Putting aside the looks (which a lot of people really like, but some do not), it probably provides the best, lightweight protection without adding a lot of bulk to the iPad, particularly to the edges of the iPad. I have several other Twelve South products, and was really looking forward to this one. The only thing that caused me to return the case (and not give it 5 stars) was the back of the snaps. Both of the cases I received had a snap (that attaches the inner frame to the outer case) where the back of the snap wasn't finished properly, so that there was a metal piece that was protruding slightly (about the size of a ball-point pen tip) and into the back of the iPad. (The back of the snap is covered with material, but you could definitely still feel this piece.) Given how tightly the case fits, I was concerned that with a lot of use, it could nick/mark the back of the iPad. If I could guarantee myself of getting a case that didn't have this issue, I'd re-order it in a heartbeat. Hopefully, this issue will get sorted out with time. Some have mentioned the lack of a magnetic on/off function. That would be nice, but in the time I used the case, it wasn't an issue.

It pains me to admit this, but the case is everything I want but it has just a few problems that make me dissappointed with this product.First off, the leather binding that holds the new iPad that I own is too loose of a fit. The top, bottom, and left-hand sides are all perfect but for some reason, the right-hand side is completely loose! I'll even post a picture if I can of this problem. It just won't lie flat for some reason and this bothers me a lot since I'm right handed and I use my iPad every day to take notes with from school.Second, the zipper is constantly stuck when trying to close it. I don't know if it is because of the quality of the zipper or the style but not once (in my long history of 4 days of owning this case) have I been able to close the book book case without having to use both hands to strategically (and forcefully) pull the zipper from the backbone of the case. Finally, I don't like the look of this case very much. While I knew beforehand that the case was designed to look antique, whoever was in charge of that process seemed to be sleeping when they did my case. While the case does look antique, if you look at it for longer than 2 seconds, you'll notice that it looks more like a kid with steel wool had fun going up and down on the case instead of a book that is worn by use and handling. I would rather wear down the case myself naturally than have scrub marks of different directions for the corners versus the cover because it makes the forced aging look unnatural.I really didn't want to post such a bad review but I had such high hopes for this case. I had done so much research in picking the right case and I had really hoped this would be the one. While I really like this case, I would not suggest anyone to buy it for $80 based on the quality of the case.

This is a review of the red iPad Mini case. Evidently, the brown and black ones are made with different leather. Most of the reviews about these cases are for the regular iPad case. The older regular case apparently was of better quality than the current Mini case, and seems to have been designed differently - for example, that case seems to have a hole, which the Mini case lacks, in the outside cover for the camera, and the iPad is held in the case differently. That being said...1. Do not get the red case if you are looking for something unobtrusive. Even though it's only the spine & corners that are actually red, the thing stands out. If you plan to use this on a bus or train, where thieves snatch devices & run, you might not want them noticing what you have. At the same time, this color makes it easy to spot the case when you've set it down somewhere.2. From a functional viewpoint - mainly involving protection - this case is overpriced. What you are paying for is in large part how cool it looks. It does look cool. But you can get the functionality from Pad and Quill, for example, for $10 less if you get the Graduate Edition, plus you get an on/off magnet closer cover.3. The materials seem cheap for the price. In one of the other reviews, it is stated that the red case is made from goat leather, while the black & brown ones aren't - the implication being that the black & brown cases seem to be of better quality. The outer covers, back & front, seem to be covered cardboard. This means you don't want to get it wet. However, I suspect I would prefer the thinner leather of the red version over what I think is the more padded feeling leather of the other two colors.4. The zipper cannot be zipped completely open.Read more ›
