4 out of 5 stars Finally, a keyboard case that is useable for the mini
PhD Student

I often rely on others to provide user experience on products before purchasing. Seeing as this is a new product, I could only rely on web reviewers instead of user reviewers. Overall, I have to say that the folio case is close to perfect. Could the keyboard be bigger? Sure, but the case would also have to be bigger than the ipad mini and it would destroy the form factor. Could there be more ipad friendly hot keys? Sure, but again... the keys would have to be smaller. I really think Zagg gave this keyboard a lot of thought. The case is sturdy, and the faux leather gives a high quality feel when carrying it around. It looks a little like a small black leather book when carrying it around. Using it for reading is a bit heavy, but to be honest... it is still lighter than carrying the full sized ipad.Typing Experience: The keys are a pleasure to type with. In fact, I am really thinking of using this setup to type the majority of papers and chapters of my research. While it will not do for polishing documents, it is superb for just typing with comfort. To be honest, I never really considered getting a keyboard for my ipad mini, because... well... it would be tiny. This definitely changed my mind.Slim factor: It is compact. For the road tech warrior, it is like a MacBook Air on steroids. Let me explain, I am an avid writer and the "writing" experience is important to me. While the keyboard is small and cramped, I think this is the most comfortable of that genre. There is no way to get a full sized keyboard without compromising the form factor, weight, and purpose. It feels intimate to type with. To me the most important part of the user experience, is when the user gets lost using the device.Read more ›

4 out of 5 stars Zagg vs Logitech
fxf901

I tried and used the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover first but returned it the following day. CONS: Very inconvenient view angle when you set the iPad mini in the keyboard. Does not provide full protection to the iPad. Pricey.PROS: Lightweight.I purchased the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio for my wife's iPad Mini then purchased the Zagg Folio ZKMHFWHLIT103 (white) when I got my iPad Mini from work. Both of the iPad Mini's are with Retina display. Note that there is an older Zagg Keyboard Folio model that will not work with iPad Mini with Retina display (I think the part number starts with zkmhc....).Here are the comparison between these 2 keyboards;KEYBOARD: Pretty much similar layout. Huge advantage of the Zagg is you could make the keys light up and the coolest part is you could change the color and brightness of the lighting. Both keyboard has an off and on button. Synchronization with iPad Mini is via bluetooth so it's very quick.PRICE: Logitech cost more.BATTERY: If you use the lighting on the Zagg keyboard, the battery drains quick. If you are using it all day with lighting on, suggest you charge it before you sleep. One good feature of the Zagg also is you could check the battery life whereas the Logitech doesn't have this functionality. One flaw on the Zagg is the charging port is on the left side and the iPad's is on the opposite side when its attached to the Zagg.WEIGHT: Logitech is lighter.PROTECTION: Both has dual protection. I think the Zagg will probably break/shatter if you drop it in a solid surface because it's hard plastic. The Logitech is rubber.LOOK and FEEL: The Zagg looks cheap to me. It's plastic.Read more ›

5 out of 5 stars I Am Difficult to Please, and This iPad Mini Case is a Total Winner

I have owned this case now for several weeks, after having researched just about every iPad mini case I could find on the market. If you're like me and need to feel convinced before committing to a purchase, this is why I chose the ZaggKey Folio. I chose to purchase the iPad mini version of the case, but I believe they also make it for the larger-sized iPads.- I am a touch-typist and appreciate the decent-sized keyboard on the ZaggKeys Folio. Compared to almost every other iPad mini case on the market (except for the ZaggKeys Cover, which has the identical keyboard) the ZaggKeys keyboard is one of the most large and comfortable. It also includes a row of native iPad function buttons, such as home, lock, volume, and other function keys.- The overall size and form factor of the iPad without a case is appealing to me, and I wanted to preserve as much of that feeling within a case as possible. The ZaggKeys Folio is a thin design and lightweight case, and does not feel bulky.- Some iPad cases use a flap or stand to hold the iPad upright, which limits the range in potential viewing angles. The ZaggKeys Folio holds the iPad just like a laptop so the screen can be adjusted forward and backward. It also has no problem holding the screen in place, as the hinge is very strong. Just yesterday I was working on my iPad in a room where light coming from behind me caused a glare that was quickly fixed by tilting the screen a bit.- The iPad mini snaps into the ZaggKeys Folio case so that the keyboard folds against the iPad screen, and a cover protects the back of the iPad from scratches and impact damage. The fact that the case protects the back of the iPad is ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL to me in a case.Read more ›
