I have had the opportunity to use a number of cases for both the Ipad, Ipad mini, and Ipad Air. A few of these cases attempted keyboard integration. By far, this is the best case/ keyboard integration i have used. It may be a little more expensive than others, but it is clearly a better product. The product arrived packaged well in frustration free packaging (boxed). The build quality of the case and keyboard seems exceptional. The design of the case is aesthetic, functional and a perfect fit for the Ipad Air and adds minimal depth, retaining Ipad sleekness unlike many other bulky cases. The Ipad Air fits perfectly in the case and I have no concern in that regard. The keyboard is standard with smaller key dimensions and a special row of Ipad dedicated keys with Ipad specific functions. Also, of significant benefit is the backlit keyboard- a most welcome addition and critical when traveling (backlit keys shut off automatically). tactile feedback and stroke depth on keys is more than sufficient. The magnetic closure and aut off features work very well. The bluetooth connection is solid and easy and re-establishes on wake-up (a problem in the past with other keyboards).Bottom line- on eof the best cases I have used so far. Highy recommended.

This is a well-made keyboard case for the iPad Air. It has some quirks, so it may not be suitable for everyone. It has a tough plastic shell covered with a softer textured synthetic fabric that feels nice in the hands and which forms the hinge. However, it has only one angle at which the keyboard works with the iPad, about thirty degrees from vertical. It powers on automatically by magnetic sensor when placed in the easel position and then pairs by Bluetooth, which requires that a code be entered. The keyboard itself is well-designed and the slightly decreased size only takes a few minutes to get used to. The special function keys are useful and they all have a solid feel, with good tactile and audible feedback despite minimal travel. However, when the keyboard is folded back for to use the iPad as a touch-only tablet, the case is somewhat annoying as it tends to slip around slightly and isn't comfortable in the hand. I prefer to remove the iPad from the case completely over keeping it in the case. The case provides good protection, except the only closure mechanism is magnetic and it may open when dropped and fail to give any protection at all, when it is needed the most. The frustration-free, recyclable packaging is nice, but it is very curious that no user manual, warranty information, or even charging cable is included. A user manual isn't really necessary, and I have plenty of cables, so this wasn't a problem for me, but I can imagine that many people would be aggravated if they bought a case in this price range and didn't find a cable in the box as would normally be expected.Overall, this Kensington keyboard case is suitable only for people who use their iPad primarily with a keyboard and don't travel with it often, and even then, it doesn't have any special qualities or features that would make me recommend it over other ones.

Update as of Friday, August 8 2014, 10:59:17 PM (jump down the update to see a glitch that just occurred shortly after I wrote this review.I own several iPad keyboards and this one has become my favorite. After having had a negative experience with what I thought was "top of the line" -- the $130 Logitech Fabricskin that cracked at the corner hinge in normal use, I had given up on buying expensive cases. Then came backlit Kensington and I found I couldn't resist. So I bought it and, as long as it holds up, I really do consider to be the "King of the Hill" of all iPad cases. Here's what I like about:► Easy to charge, set up and pair. No instructions are included, but you don't really need them.► Standard keyboard. I acclimated to the smaller dimension quickly and I'm typing at my normal speed.► I love the extra row at the top! You an lock and unlock and adjust the volume through dedicated keys that require no addition function key press.► Back lit keyboard. It works great and shuts itself off to save on battery after a few seconds.► It's lightweight and add very little to the size of my iPad Air. Unlike other keyboards I own, my iPad is still an iPad when it's wearing this keyboard cover.► Folds all the way back. The one thing that kept me from getting the Zagg is that it didn't fold all they way to "tablet" position. This can do it!I was actually surprised that Kensington came out with this so late the game when there is glut of less expensive keyboards available. But this definitely stands out as a winner that represents the best of what's now available.Update of Friday, August 8 2014:This evening I noticed that the "L" key started the sticking persistently. Because I like case a lot, I'm going to try and get an exchange and I'm only deduct one star.

Kensington KeyFolio Thin X2 is a capable iPad Air Bluetooth keyboard, but it cannot charge a phone as the X3. It includes a dedicated row of iPad-specific keys and provides a good typing experience, though the key sink distance of 1 mm is shortish. The Plus version is backlit, has the 700-mAh battery instead of just 380, but thus is also heavier, though still under the 1-lb weight of the iPad Air and X3 with the 1,650-mAh battery. The top row keys above the number keys are dedicated to iPad-specific functions. In addition to media controls, there is a home button, a key to show all open apps, and a button for Siri. The button to the right of the space bar activates the keyboard's power status, which goes from green to red depending on the charge left in the battery. The battery should last for up to 240 hours without recharging. The case is ergonomic, aesthetic, sturdy, thick enough - at 0.5 inch - to protect, and thin enough to be comfortably held even by a small palm of the hand. The rigid covers are flat and flexibly jointed, stiff, but pleasant in touch, micro-textured & not slippery, thanks to a hard & very durable molded polycarbonate plastic shell, which does not tend to catch grime. Finger smudges are not visible neither on white surface nor on black. The covers function, as in a book, and also allow to hide the keyboard under the tablet. The typing position is functional and well & simply secured.
